News Report

AIG receives $120 Billion in the last 20 days,
but our two major parties, the "Republicrats",
couldn't find $7 Billion to insure children.
What is it that is said about a country who
can not take care of its most vulnerable?

The rest of the story on Governor Palin and the
"troopergate" report is a mixed bag. The
investigator and the author of the report states
that Palin's firing of the Alaska Public Safety
Commissioner, for his non-firing of Palin's
former brother-in-law, is a "proper and lawful
exercise" of the Governor's authority. These
last words will be McCain's answer.

State and local budgets across the U.S. are having
to be cut back because of the financial and credit
crisis. Fiscal budgets were based on expected
state and local tax collections, but revenues are
now much lower than budgeted for. Governors and
local administrators will be paring back all their
agenices spending. California is already on record
for asking the Federal Governement for $7 Billion.
Just think the real crisis hasn't hit yet; it has
not "trickled down" to the job sector. The "trickle
down" economic theory is interesting, isn't it.
Give hugh tax cuts to the wealthy, and that money
will "trickle down" to the lower classes, rising water
raises all ships. Nice economic theory but not too
practical. On the otherhand, bad economic times
"trickle down" all the way to the bottom and the
ships are stranded. Makes me wonder why local jobs can
not be locally developed. Why is it necessary to
bring in a GM, a Ford, a Nissan to make jobs, and then
when they sneeze, all the U.S. catches a cold and
left with no job and no money? Does it have to be that
way?

In Troy, NY, just across the river from Albany, the
absentee ballot lists Barack Obama as Barack "Osama".
A typing error, human error. LOL, sure thing...Is it
an error when everyone associates the name "Osama"
with the al Qaeda terrorist group?

Why is Obama now avoiding the press? How now can Palin
be questioned about avoiding the press, with Obama
doing the same? More importantly, is this a signal
of what is to come, if Obama wins the presidency? Will
he avoid the WH press core?

Connecticut has now become the third State to legalize
marriage of gay and lesbian couples. This is not a
civil union. Another State "lost" to the anti-gay/
lesbian fundamentalist groups. Where will all their
rage take us?

McCain flip-flops again. This time he has changed his
course from openly questioning Obama's character to
almost praising Obama. Until Friday of this week,
McCain's line was "Who is Barack Obama?" On Friday,
however, after personally hearing the venom which his
and Palin's comments had fomented, he called for
ending the rage. After insighting it, is that possible?
From the reaction of the crowds rage at suggesting it,
this genie might not be possible to put back in the
Atwater-Rovian bottle of nasty tricks. McCain was booed
and jeered for telling his campaign crowds on Friday
that Obama was 'a decent family man and citizen."
In addition, he said that "I admire Senator Obama and
his accompishments." Wonder who or what caused this
change in McCain? The secret service? His conscience?
Maybe McCain saw what these crowds represented, not
his real conservative values, but far right, bigoted,
religious fundamentalists and reactionaries sounds
of rage? So, this is the neoconservative theological
Republican base?

October 25, 1963: Anti-Kennedy "Wanted for Treason" Pamphlets in Dallas

A few weeks before President John Kennedy arrived in Dallas, Texas on that fateful November day, "Wanted For Treason" handbills started popping up around town. News reporters Ed Cocke and Harry McCormick brought examples to work on Thursday morning. The fliers depicted the president in full face and profile, as in a mug shot. "This man," they read, "is wanted for treasonous activities against the United States."

Among JFK's alleged crimes: "betraying the Constitution (which he swore to uphold)"; giving "support and encouragement to the Communist inspired racial riots"; and telling "fantastic LIES to the American people (including personal ones like his previous marriage [sic] and divorce)."

On Thursday afternoon, city editor Johnny King assigned me to track the pamphlets to their source and to discover, if possible, whether similar venom might be spewing forth the next day during the president's visit.

Harry McCormick, an old pro who'd once been kidnapped by Bonnie and Clyde's gang, suggested I look for leads in the paper's coverage of a "National Indignation Convention" (NIC) held in Dallas a few weeks earlier, where NIC delegates bitterly scorned Kennedy for allowing Yugoslavian pilots to train at Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman, about 75 miles north of Dallas.

McCormick's idea paid off. I located an NIC organizer who put me in touch with those who'd printed the "Wanted For Treason" posters.

"We're going to show Kennedy what we think of him," one of them said on the telephone. I reminded him that after UN Ambassador Adlai Stevenson's recent adversity in Dallas, the city council had passed a resolution making it a misdemeanor to curse or shout obscenities during a public event.

"Oh, we're not going to shout at him," the caller assured me. "In fact, we're going to have our mouths covered with tape so there's no possibility of such behavior. We're going to be law-abiding. We don't want to harm anyone. We just want Americans to wake up to what's happening in our country."

He closed, "Oh, by the way, you'll be able to recognize us easily. We're going to be wearing Uncle Sam suits."

Johnny King decided not to print what I'd learned. "No laws broken apparently," he said. "One might argue that they violated the laws of good taste [with the pamphlets], but I doubt anyone will care about that. Let's not make them heroes by writing about them."

The Social Experiment

Social Experiment

By Engineer of Knowledge

Through my personal and professional life, I have come to know and interact with a lot of those with conservative view points. I want to make the point that they truly are good people at heart and I really like most of them.  But like Abraham Lincoln said, “You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.”

These good people often quote what they hear stated from sources like Fox News, O’ Reilly, Hannity, and Beck, believing their statements to be true and accurate.  One of my favorite miss-statements here of late is that Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac were just two more government programs started by the Bill Clinton administration that led us to this housing financial crash that has devastated the world financial markets.  I then inform them that the truth of the matter is that Fannie Mae started in 1938 to provide liquidity to the mortgage market and became a stockholder-owned corporation chartered in 1968 during the Nixon years.  Freddy Mac is also a private corporation that was created in 1970 to expand the secondary market for mortgages.  So, contrary to the latest misleading information from the conservative personalities noted above, Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac do not make home loans directly to consumers, are not a government agencies started by Bill Clinton in the mid-1990’s, but are actually private corporations with stockholders.

The look on these good people’s faces when they check my statements for themselves, trying to disprove me and find out the truth that these conservative blowhards have passed on incorrect information that they accepted as being fact, is one of bewilderment and confusion.  So after listening to all of the latest miss-information, half-truths, and yes even lies, like the noted example above being just one, I decided to engage in a social experiment myself.

I wanted to see just how different groups of basically good people with these conservative viewpoints can be misled.  I created a liberal bashing piece that I post in the “Comment Section” identifying myself as “Fighter For Faith From the Front Lines.”  What I did was take the essay written by Joseph Goebbels in 1935 called “The Jew,” “The attack, Essays from the fight time” and just replace the statements noting where the words “Jew” was and replaced with “Liberal.”  In place of “we” when Goebbels was referencing the Nazi Party and “German people” I substituted “Conservatives” or “Conservative Americans.”  Other than those few words, I left the exact same words of hate and intolerance that Goebbels had directed towards the Jewish people.  So I took my newly formed document spewing the same hate and intolerance directly towards what the Conservative Blog sites viewed in their own minds as being liberal.  The document just uses the word “Liberals” in generalization type arguments, just as Joseph Goebbels did, which allows others to interpret the comments based on their own thoughts and viewpoints of what “Liberal” means to them.  Of course any student who has taken English 101 knows that any generalized statement can be too easily discredited allowing the argument to be negated but it stills takes some effort from the reader to apply this to what they have just read.  If they are agreeing with what is being said and interpreted by their personal mindset, most will never apply this rule of logical argumentation on a personal level of their everyday life.

After posting this document in the “Comment Section” of about half a dozen Conservative Blog sites, I went back a few days later to see what others had said about my posting.

I did a cut and past from the comments and replies from these Conservative Blog sites and pasted them as they were noted below:

  1. “Fighter For Faith From the Front Lines is a man who knows what is right and fighting the good fight trying to keep the liberal socializing programs out of the United States.”
  2. “It is obvious to me that Faith Fighter is a good Christian man doing God’s work.”
  3. “All those Liberals should be taken out and shot for trying to push their social liberal policies on the American citizens starting with Congress.”
  4. “Liberal’s are always trying to keep killing babies but when Sarah Palin gets elected President, she will get this stopped.”  When this happens then we will go after them.
  5. (I had to edit this rant down)  The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop the illegal immigration.  The possibility of a McCain/Palin election is prompting the exodus among left-leaning liberals who fear they’ll soon be required to hunt, pray, and agree with Bill O’Reilly.  Canadian border farmer say it’s not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, animal rights activists and Unitarians crossing their fields at night.  Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan Sarandon movies.  Canadian is capturing these illegal liberals and sending them back to the United States.  Canadian can’t support all of those art history and English majors.  After all, how many of those people does one country need?  This is to the thanks to people like Fighter from the Front Lines doing their part to keep this country safe.
  6. God Bless Faith Fighter!!!!
  7. We all should put forth the same effort as Fighter.  I see the same people at the John McCain and Sarah Palin rallys doing their part.

This is just a snap shot of comments made to my piece.  As you can see, we have a good group of solid Conservative American Citizens and Faith Based political movement in this country that would make very good Nazis agreeing with Joseph Goebbels essay of 1935.

Man Attempts to Follow Literal Bible for Year

He read, he followed, he failed. For an entire year, as The Blade reports today, 39-year-old writer and editor A. J. Jacobs from New York City tried to follow every single biblical law. He failed.

I'm reminded of those funny Fundamentalists who pick and choose certain parts of the Bible to uphold while dismissing other, more difficult edicts from the ancient manuscript.

In The News

World business markets collapsing. Talk of
recession and even depression. GM near
bankruptcy. Should fed. govt. bail out GM?
Our 401k's are losing their value. Where
is our money going? What do McCain and Obama
do? Put their hands in their pockets and
whistle Dixie! McCain says he will spend
another $300B to save mortgages; Obama says
he will spend $150B on a stimulus program.
They just don't get it, do they?

A federal judge in Cleveland has struck down
voter registration of Ohio Secretary of State
Brunner. Says Ohio is breaking federal election
law. So, Democrats were going to be better than
Republicans? Ha! "Not a dimes worth of difference".
One's voter fraud is the other's voter suppression.

Chairman Muller, of the Joint Chiefs says that
Afghanistan is in a spiraling decline. He calls for
an immediate infusion of 23,000 U.S. troops. Even
the British are now saying Afghanistan is "lost".
Both McCain and Obama want to project U.S. power
in that country. What a joke! There's that dime
again.....

The delayed National Intelligence Estimate(NIE) is
reported to maintain that Iraq is not pacified as
McCain is portraying. The NIE has been ordered not
to release the past due report until after the
election. Some of the reported main problems are the
same that existed before "the surge", namely, the
dividing up of the oil revenue, the kurds in the North
and the others in the South, the Sunni Shiite split,
and al Sadr's private army. The NIE is suggusting this
will all explode with the U.S. exit.

Have you heard of the "Bradley Effect" in politics?
Bradley was a former black mayor of Los Angeles and ran
for Governor of California back in late '70s or early '80s.
He had a double didgit lead in the polls in the weekend
before the election, but was easily defeated. Will there
be a "Bradley Effect" on Nov. 4? How trustworthy are these
State polls?

Will McCain's attacks on the character of Obama win for him?
As Biden is saying now, why didn't Obama use McCain's "That
One" comment, to look him in the eye, and say "what do you
mean by that?" Wouldn't it be better to just go there and
back him down as his communication director, Gibbs, did with
Sean Hannity?

There is a recent article describing problems for these mega
fundamentalist churches. The criticism is that most of the
attendees are spectators, and not people of faith. People are
not being transformed to be christians, rather the leaders
of these megachurches are not interested in advancing the
christian message. These churches seem to stress the Old
Testament, and not the more liberal teaching of Jesus Christ.

These are some of the headlines in news today. Thought
this might generate some discussion.

Tens of thousands of eligible voters in at least six swing states have been removed from the rolls or have been blocked from registering in ways that appear to violate federal law, according to a review of state records and Social Security data by The New York Times.

The actions do not seem to be coordinated by one party or the other, nor do they appear to be the result of election officials intentionally breaking rules, but are apparently the result of mistakes in the handling of the registrations and voter files as the states tried to comply with a 2002 federal law, intended to overhaul the way elections are run.

Still, because Democrats have been more aggressive at registering new voters this year, according to state election officials, any heightened screening of new applications may affect their party’s supporters disproportionately. The screening and trimming of voter registration lists in the six states — Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada and North Carolina — could also result in problems at the polls on Election Day: people who have been removed from the rolls are likely to show up only to be challenged by political party officials or election workers, resulting in confusion, long lines and heated tempers.

The John Pimping Pathetic Burlesque Queen Palin

"Palling around with terrorists!" Isn't she a hoot? Poor Sarah- John McCain all but forgot about her last evening: never mentioned her name. She's the nasty vagina he is using to pep up his right-wing, Christian base. Does she know that she's being pimped by The John? And does she love the intercourse she's engaged in?

Like a hooker without a leash, Sarah Palin parades her body on stage like a burlesque queen, drooping filthy talk to the gawking audience. She seems to enjoy it savoring each off-color remark flowing from her mouth. Makes me wonder if she's reliving some forbidden, vicarious lifestyle, some dark passion to prostitute herself for The John.

Red state America loves her and can't seem to get enough of her potty mouth and her tight skirts. The former beauty queen from Wasilla has finally reached the big time. She struts her stuff and does her thing for The John. Pimping Palin- burlesque queen and part-time hooker.

Florida Next?

The Wall Street Journal has reported some
interesting news concerning the McCain
campaign. Well, it appears as if McCain
has touched the "3rd rail" of U.S. politics.

Douglas Holtz Eakin, McCain's senior policy
adviser, told the WSJ that McCain would pay
for his health initiatives with a $1.3 Trillion
reduction to Medicare and Medicaid. The McCain
"health program would be funded on the backs of
social security recipients which are seniors,
poor families, and the disabled.

It is already known that McCain supports the
privatization of FDR's Social Security program
of the New Deal. With the recent collapse of our
financial markets, where would our seniors be with
a privatized social security in the stock market?
Now, McCain goes after LBJ's Great Society programs
of medicare and medicaid by cutting the Social
Security program $1.3 Trillion.

How will this attack on Social Security be received
in the battle ground state of Florida? Florida is
known for its large senior citizen population and
as the leading retirement State for seniors. If this
report is not like manna falling into the hands of
Obama, hard to say what else would be. Seniors are
jealous of their Social Security pension and Medicare,
and they are voters. McCain has pulled his campaign
out of Michigan earlier, will Forida be next?
